War

“Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”

Hermann Göring (speaking about war and extreme nationalism during the Nuremberg trials to his judges).

Very powerful.

I've used this one myself in the past few years and always find it very powerful, very poignant and scarily accurate.

But never forget "Somewhere in Texas, a village is missing its idiot"

By the way, George Bush wouldn't have the stones to be the biggest bully in the Sandbox if it weren't for the support he gets from Tony Blair.

Chris, I'm not sure I agree with "wouldn't have the stones to be the biggest bully in the Sandbox if it weren't for the support he gets from Tony Blair.". I think we'd still be in the mess we are, and he'd still be the bully he is.

This is the way we jerkl the knee, jerk the knee, jerk the knee...

Remember, "It takes a village to raise a child, and it takes a village idiot to bankrupt the wealthiest nation in the world, and alienate us from all of our former allies." We have been sold to the People's Republic of China.

Hey Simon, I liked your idea to keep posting here.

Don't blame Blair! Yes, he's a total arse-licking cunt, but GW and his cronies were set on going into Iraq, no matter what.

I personally can't wait for the guy to stop running my country. And I hope he takes Blair with him.

(I'm very clever aren't I, scribe?)
