Thank God You're Not Norwegian

I happened upon an article at Rationalist International which reveals:

"In 1537, Norway adopted the Lutheran Christian religion as state religion by a royal decree... The system remains stable, as it is safely embedded in the constitution. Every citizen is born as a church member - and remains one as long as he or she is not determined to face all disadvantages and leave the church... Another safeguard for the system is the constitutional rule that at least half of the ministers of any government have to be church members. A party that has - by chance or principle – no church members or just not enough of them is excluded from full power."

Bloomin' 'eck.

Hey Simon, I just wanted to visit and say thank-you for spamming my blog and all my friend's blogs, and especially for leaving rude and inappropriate comments at my wife's blog. I'm far more likely to listen to and respect your anti-religious viewpoints now...

Don't mention it. I wouldn't exactly say I "spammed" your friend's blogs. I read their posts and left a comment. I thought that's what you do in the world of blog. And is saying "I'd like to get my hands on some emerging women" really all that offensive?

I don't know, some people have no sense of humour...

The US Congress is using Norway as an example of the horrible things that can happen when you fail to define marriage as homophobic. Too bad more people don't read your blog or they could counter that the problems are actually caused by state mandated religion.

Norweigans have lost their way! They have forgotten the importance of a dish to bring! (Minnesota humor regarding what defines a Lutheran. Think Church Suppers.)

Leaving antagonistic comments for a whole bunch of people that you don't know and don't have any previous connection with... yeah, I'd call that spamming.

All I can say is it's a good thing atheists don't care about winning converts to their side, because some of you guys are just about as annoying as fundamentalist Christian street preachers. And just about as effective too.

I really have no desire to "win converts", mike. You mistake atheism. There's nothing to be gained by relieving people from their irrational beliefs. Besides, poking fun at religion is so much fun, why would I want to get rid of it?

I think you're taking yourself and your blogging way too seriously if you can't handle a few light-hearted (and harmless) comments. I mean, please, what did I say that was so terrible?
